Srinagar, Sep 12 (KNO): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Friday joined the devotees in offering the congregational Jumma (Friday) prayers at the revered Hazratbal Shrine on the occasion of the Friday following Eid-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW). On this blessed occasion, the Chief Minister, along with NC President, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani and other senior leaders, had the honour of witnessing the sacred glimpse of the Holy Relic, believed to be of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), after the prayers. As per details collected by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), they prayed for lasting peace, prosperity and happiness for the people of Jammu and Kashmir while the Chief Minister’s sons, Zamir and Zahir Abdullah, also accompanied the NC delegation. Speaking to reporters after the prayers, Dr Farooq stressed the need for communal harmony, saying Hindus and Muslims should live in peace and harmony. “Everywhere, Muslims are being harassed,” he said. Expressing concern over the frequent closure of the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, he said that it is unfortunate that Jamia Masjid remains shut on this auspicious day.
