Centre gives its nod to Vibrant Villages Programme | KNO

Srinagar, Mar 11 (KNO): Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai on Tuesday informed the Lok Sabha that the Centre has given its approval to the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) on February 15, 2023. In a written reply Rai stated: “The scheme aims for the comprehensive development of select villages located along the northern border.” The initiative, reply said, will cover 46 blocks across 19 districts in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and the Union Territory of Ladakh.” “A total of 662 border villages have been prioritized for development under this program. The government has allocated Rs. 150 crore for the Financial Year 2023-24 and Rs 209 crore for 2024-25,” the reply stated, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). “The States and Union Territories involved will be the primary implementing agencies responsible for the effective utilization of these funds. This program is a key step towards improving infrastructure and living conditions in these strategic border areas,” the reply added—(KNO)
