Autumn brings surge in tourist footfall in Kashmir, flight traffic increases | KNO

Nearly 11,000 people visit valley via Air on daily basis; 212 flights operate in last 3 days

Srinagar, Nov 21 (KNO): The Kashmir Valley is experiencing an increase in tourist arrivals this autumn season, with many visitors exploring the region for the first time. The vibrant colours of fall, coupled with the region’s natural beauty, have attracted travellers from across the country and beyond. As per the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), local residents are delighted by the influx of tourists. Shahid, a local shopkeeper in Srinagar shared, “The autumn season has always been special for us, but this year, there is a buzz. Many tourists are coming for the first time, and they are in awe of the valley’s beauty.” Also, as per the details accessed by KNO, the flight operations at Srinagar Airport have remained steady in line with the rising tourist numbers. Over the past three days, the airport handled up to nearly 70 flights a day, with passenger traffic exceeding about 11,000 on a daily basis. “On November 20, the airport saw 11,216 passengers, with 5,515 arriving on 36 flights and 5,701 departing,” the details read. “On November 19, the number of passengers was slightly lower, at 11,055, with 5,638 arrivals and 5,417 departures, while the previous day, November 18, marked the highest traffic, with 11,585 passengers flying in and out of the valley. Of these, 5,801 arrived, and 5,784 departed,” it added. Similarly, for many tourists this marks their first visit to Kashmir in autumn. Rahul Sharma, a tourist from Gujarat said, “I heard so much about the beauty of Kashmir, especially in autumn. It is my first time here, and I can say it’s beyond what I imagined. The Valley is beautiful, and the experience is unforgettable.” Another female visitor, Neha from Gujarat, who was accompanied by Rahul, said, “The beauty of Kashmir is out of this world as it is read heaven. At least for a single time, one should visit Kashmir,” she said. Similarly, locals are also benefiting from the tourism boom. Asim Bhat, a houseboat owner, noted, “The increase in visitors has been good for business. Our houseboats are packed and have been fully booked.” Meanwhile, the surge in tourist arrivals is expected to continue, with the region’s enchanting autumn scenery serving as a major draw. Moreover, the snowfall in hilly areas, as well as the famous ski resort, is starting to attract tourists from India and outside the country as well—(KNO)
