Srinagar, Sept 11 (KNO): Veteran cricketer Samiullah Beigh and international footballer Ishfaq Ahmad on Friday inaugurated ‘The Cricket Hub by Wasi’ at Natipora in Srinagar, in the presence of former first-class cricketers and several prominent sportspersons.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the inauguration was attended by several former and current sportspersons, including former first-class cricketers Adil Reshi, Ishtiyaq Rasool and Syed Sagar.
The spokesperson said the grand opening brought together prominent members of the Valley’s sporting fraternity and marked the launch of the new sports store and hub aimed at providing quality sports equipment and facilities to athletes in the region.
He said the ceremony also witnessed the presence of Adil Reshi, Ishtiyaq Rasool and Syed Sagar, whose participation reflected the support of the local sports community for the new venture.
The spokesperson said The Cricket Hub by Wasi is designed as a one-stop destination for cricket enthusiasts, professionals and aspiring athletes. The store will provide professional-grade sporting goods, apparel and expert guidance to cater to the needs of players across Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, veteran cricketer Samiullah Beigh highlighted the importance of the new establishment.
“Having a dedicated, high-quality sports hub with original players’ edition equipment is crucial for nurturing the immense athletic talent we have in the Valley,” he said.
“Initiatives like The Cricket Hub by Wasi will go a long way in providing our youth with the right resources and gear to excel on the field.”
The spokesperson said veteran footballer Ishfaq Ahmad also praised the initiative. “Sports have the power to unite us, and seeing the sporting fraternity come together to support this launch is truly inspiring. Providing our youth with access to quality equipment is the first step toward building future champions,” he said.
He said the event concluded with the dignitaries touring the new store, exploring the equipment on display and interacting with young sports enthusiasts and fans who had gathered for the opening.
