Srinagar, Jul 05 (KNO): In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Sopore on Friday said to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered Psychotropic substances from his possession.
A police party of Police Station Tarzoo headed by SHO Police Station Tarzoo under the supervision of SDPO Sopore at a checkpoint established at Pethseer crossing, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a bag. During the search, Police party was able to recover 12 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from the bag. He has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Yatoo son of Ghulam Rasool Yatoo resident of Sangrama Sopore. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 61/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo & further investigation has been initiated.
“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said—(KNO)
