Budgam, Jul 29 (KNO): Former Chief Minister and People's Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday visited the residence of slain Head Constable Ashiq Hussain at Lolipora in Beerwah area of central Kashmir's Budgam district to express condolences with the bereaved family. Mehbooba as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer KNO met the family members, offered her sympathies over the loss and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. She also expressed solidarity with the family and conveyed her condolences over the killing of the policeman, who lost his life in a terror attack earlier this month near Lal Chowk in Anantnag while on duty. Later, the PDP president visited the flood-affected Beerwah market, where a shopping complex was washed away in the recent flash floods, causing extensive damage to shops and business establishments. During her visit, Mehbooba interacted with affected shopkeepers and traders who narrated the losses they had suffered in the disaster. She listened to their grievances, inspected the damaged site and assessed the extent of destruction caused by the flash floods. Assuring the affected traders of her support, Mehbooba said their concerns and demands would be taken up with the concerned authorities. She stressed the need for timely relief, rehabilitation and adequate compensation for those who have suffered losses so that they can rebuild their livelihoods at the earliest. A number of local residents, traders and PDP workers accompanied her during the visit—(KNO)
