Christmas Celebrated Across Kashmir Valley | KNO

Amid traditional enthusiasm and religious fervor, Christians on Monday celebrated Christmas with special prayers for world peace, brotherhood and safety of women held at different churches across Kashmir Valley.

Hundreds of Christian devotees including women and children flocked at the at the Holy Family Catholic Church at Moulana Azad Road in the heart of Srinagar city, to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ (A.S) and held special prayers. The church was decorated with colourful buntings and balloons and wore a festive look.

Some locals and tourists from different parts of India and world joined the locals on the auspicious day and prayed for peace and brotherhood, especially for peace and calm in Kashmir. A local Non Governmental Organization (NGO), “Who is Hussain” had erected stalls and distributed confectionaries among children. Similar gatherings were held at Saint Luke's church and All Saints' church in the city, Saint Joseph's Church in north Kashmir's Baramulla, the oldest Catholic Church in Jammu and Kashmir and at the Church at the tourist resort of Gulmarg.
