JAMMU & KASHMIR Sarpanch killing aftermath: Congress Sarpanch resigns in Sopore village | KNO Published 193 weeks ago on August 07, 2020 By Peerzada Waseem Sopore August 07 (KNO): Following the killing of a BJP Sarpanch in south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Thursday, a Congress sarpanch in Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla resigned from the post on Friday afternoon, An official said that a Sarpanch namely Mohammad Ramzan Lone son Ghulam Qadir Lone of Malmapanpora Dangerpora Tehsil of Sopore resigned from the post. While talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Mohammad Ramzan said that from the last several years they are living under threats and now they cannot bear it anymore. "I can't live with the fear of losing my life." He said that he was affiliated with the Indian National Congress from the last several years when he contested panchayat elections he won with a huge majority. He said that he is around 60 years of age and belongs to a very poor family. "I have four daughters and I don't want to put my family in risk."
