Won't sell our land in Bala, it's a revenue asset: Dir Sheep Husbandry | KNO

Srinagar, May 30 (KNO): The authorities in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has declined the offer of Indian army to sell it's 129 kanal land at Tapperwari, Pattan in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. Indian army had requisitioned the department of sheep husbandry to sell it's 129 kanal land where some of its troopers are stationed temporarily for some time now. Talking exclusively to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Director Sheep Husbandry, Kashmir, Dr Abdul Salaam, said that the plot is a revenue generating asset and can't be sold also a farm is already functioning there. He said we need the whole land for our department and are not going to sell it to anyone. Around Rs 20 lakh revenue is generated from the farm functioning and already has government livestock there, he said. He said the project work is underway and we grow grass there. Not only in times to come the piece shall earn for the department even at present grass worth Rs 20 lakh is collected, Dr Salaam said. He said we are not willing to sell our land. Pertinently, Indian army had made requisition to the department to sell its 129 kanal land, the official communiqué made by army read: “Some troops of this unit are temporarily in your land at Kareri high school, near Tapperwar village. Whether you (Baramulla administration) wishes to sell land to the Indian army.” The army had sought reply by the May 30. This is for the first time post the abrogation of article 370 and 35 A that Indian army had made a requisition to buy land in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
