Srinagar, July 11 (KNO) : Barely a fortnight after his visit, on the directions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah has sought detailed reports from the Jammu and Kashmir government on the various schemes meant for poor, downtrodden and destitute and also various developmental schemes to ensure their proper and timely implementation, reliable sources in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, told KNO. They said that after chairing series of meeting in Srinagar on June 26, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed his dissatisfaction over the slow implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes that include pension for the poor, destitute, old-age, and widows besides a series of schemes under Integrated Child Development and Protection (ICDS) that includes free nutrition for the poor children between the age of 0 to 6 years and also the long delay and hiccups in completing prestigious projects including fly-overs, hospitals, drainage system, and crucial road links. “On the direction of Union Home Minister,  MHA has constituted various teams to monitor the progress of all the important schemes in Jammu and Kashmir especially those being funded by the Centre under 90:10 ratio,” a top MHA official revealed to KNO, on the condition of anonymity. “The Union Home Minister is keen to ensure that the benefits of Central schemes reach poorest of the poor without waiting for long time. So various teams will monitor the progress of the schemes and also suggest how the loopholes can be plugged so that proper implementation takes place.” The officials said the MHA has sought detailed progress reports of all the major schemes including those being run under the department of Social Welfare and also the Roads and Buildings department so that timely implementation takes place and poor people get benefit besides common people reap the benefits of development, peace and prosperity. “So to begin with, there will be thorough monitoring and also the submission of reports by various departments of State government on the progress achieved. The Union Home Minister in his June 26 visit had made it clear that he will monitor the progress of all the important projects funded by the GoI directly, himself,” the official told KNO. He said it has been found that some officials in various government departments were responsible for the delay in implementation of schemes without any sold justification. “If they don’t mend their ways, strict action may be recommended against them,” the official revealed. “This is for the first time that MHA has decided to monitor all the important projects in J&K itself.”(KNO)
