Bandipora, June 22 (KNO) : A mosque known as ‘Noor Masjid’, residential house and a shop were gutted in three separate mishaps in Sumbal and Bandipora area of northern Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday. Officials told KNO that a mosque was damaged in a fire mishap, which broke out in the third floor of Masjid-e-Noor, located at Nowpora market in Bandipora town. The fire incident took place in the wee hours today. Firefighters and locals doused the flames and prevented the fire from spreading to nearby localities. However, the third storey of the mosque suffered extensive damage and the second storey has suffered partial damage,” they said. In another fire incident, a residential house was damaged in a fire incident this morning in Baharabad village of Hajin area in Bandipora district. Eye witnesses told KNO that a gas cylinder blast occurred inside a residential house of Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohammad Akbar Sheikh of Baharabad Hajin, resulting in the damage to the house. Fire was brought under control by three fire tenders with the help of local youth. The firemen prevented fire from spreading to adjacent houses, eyewitness told Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Meanwhile, a shop of Mohammad Ayoub Navoo (Saita) suffered massive damage in the fire mishap at Naidkhai village of Bandipora. The fire broke out in the wee hours of Saturday. However, no loss of life or injury was reported in these fire incidents. Meanwhile, police has taken the cognizance of these fire incidents and has started investigation into the matter. (KNO)
