Srinagar leads in parks, floriculture; Doda, Kishtwar have none | KNO

Srinagar, Mar 14 (KNO): The latest data from the Directorate of Floriculture, Jammu and Kashmir shows that Srinagar has the highest number of parks and the largest area under floriculture, while Doda and Kishtwar have no parks at all. With 120 parks and 240.34 hectares of land under floriculture, Srinagar dominates the sector in J&K, data accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reveals. It is followed by Anantnag (30 parks, 116.30 hectares) and Jammu (41 parks, 43.39 hectares). On the other side, Doda and Kishtwar have no parks, though Doda has 87 hectares under floriculture and Kishtwar has 14.7 hectares. Other districts with minimal floriculture activity include Shopian (1.47 hectares), Ramban (4.95 hectares), and Pulwama (5.90 hectares). Overall, Jammu and Kashmir has 276 parks and 659.34 hectares under floriculture. Officials said expanding floriculture could boost tourism and local economies, particularly in districts with low park numbers—(KNO)
