LG Ladakh visits Drass, celebrates granting of district status | KNO

Drass, Aug 28 (KNO): Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) made his first trip to the Drass area of Ladakh, following the Union Home Minister’s announcement granting it district status. The visit was welcomed by the residents who celebrated this milestone with great enthusiasm. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), upon his arrival, LG Mishra was greeted by a human chain of school students stretching up to 1 kilometer along NH1D, showcasing the community's unity and excitement. The local public also lined the route, showering the Lieutenant Governor with flower petals and chanting slogans like "Modi Government Zindabad", "Amit Shah Zindabad" and "LG Ladakh Zindabad". They expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the fulfillment of their long-standing demand for district status. During his address, LG Mishra reaffirmed his dedication to the development of Drass, saying that granting district status was a priority project under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. “This decision marks the beginning of a developmental phase for Drass and promises a prosperous future for the next 30 years,” he said. The LG assured the people that the region would see massive growth and focus on long-term benefits for future generations. The event was attended by several notable figures, including CEC Kargil Dr Mohd Jaffar Akhone, DC Kargil Shrikant Bala Sahab Suse, SP Kargil, Councillors Abdul Wahid and Abdul Samad, BJP Chief Patron of Drass Fayaz Qari and other religious and political leaders. In a heartfelt gesture, the people of Drass presented LG Mishra with traditional attire, which he wore on the spot—(KNO)
