Kulgam Police arrests drug peddler, charas-like substance recovered | KNO

Kulgam, Oct 06 (KNO): Kulgam Police arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered around 14 grams of charas-like substance during naka checking at Chattabal Crossing on Tuesday, officials said. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a police spokesperson said that continuing its drive against drug trafficking, a police party recovered the substance during naka checking at Chattabal Crossing, within the jurisdiction of Police Station Kulgam, and arrested one person. He said the police party noticed a person moving suspiciously near the crossing. On seeing the police, he allegedly attempted to flee but was apprehended. The accused was identified as Mohd Ayoub Bhat, son of Abdul Khaliq Bhat, a resident of Nursingpora, Kulgam. During his search, around 14 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. The spokesperson said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated. Kulgam Police urged the public to remain vigilant and share information regarding drug peddling or related activities, adding that the identity of informants would be kept confidential—(KNO)
