Srinagar, Mar 26 (KNO): The India Meteorological Department on Thursday forecast generally cloudy weather with spells of rain and snow across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days. According to the details provided by the Meteorological Centre Srinagar to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) from March 28 to 30, the weather is likely to remain generally cloudy with intermittent light to moderate rain and snow in higher reaches at most places, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph, especially during night hours. The MeT said that on March 31, scattered places may receive brief spells of light rain or snow, while the period from April 1 to 5 is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy. The department also forecast light rain or snow at isolated to scattered places on April 6 and 7. Meanwhile, temperatures across the Valley remained above normal. Srinagar recorded a maximum of 21.0°C, which is 4.7°C above normal, while the minimum settled at 12.3°C, 6.9°C above normal. Qazigund and Kupwara also recorded above-normal temperatures, with daytime highs of 19.4°C and 19.7°C respectively. In Jammu, the maximum temperature was recorded at 29.2°C, 1.5°C above normal, while the minimum stood at 19.1°C. The MeT department has issued an advisory warning of moderate snowfall over higher reaches and thunder, lightning and gusty winds at many places between March 28 night and March 30 night. Farmers have been advised to suspend farm activities between March 29 and 31, while travellers have been asked to follow traffic advisories and plan journeys accordingly—(KNO)
