Srinagar, Apr 12 (KNO): As 550 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir have opted for Hajj 2025 through Haj Group Organisers (HGOs), the authorities at the J&K State Hajj Committee have asked to verify the registration status and quota allotment of their chosen operators before making any commitments. A top official at J&K’s Hajj Committee, while speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) confirmed that for Hajj 2025, 550 pilgrims from J&K were taking up their pilgrimage through Haj Group Organiser (HGOs). “As of now, 550 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled to travel through private arrangements,” the senior official confirmed. “It is essential that pilgrims confirm whether the HGO they are dealing with is officially listed and has been allotted a quota by the Ministry. Unverified operators have previously caused serious issues, including pilgrims being stranded or denied access to Hajj facilities.” As per the officials, the pilgrims can cross-check the approved list of HGOs and their quota on the official website of the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Meanwhile, the third phase of orientation and training is currently ongoing. Following this, the vaccination drive will begin, and every pilgrim will be administered three vaccines, including for influenza and polio, in their respective districts. Notably, the Saudi government recently imposed a temporary suspension of Umrah, tourist, and visiting visas ahead of the Hajj season. However, the move has been described by officials as a positive move, stating that this will improve the experience and facilities for legitimate Hajj pilgrims, especially those travelling through the official Hajj Committee. Officials confirmed that 3,626 pilgrims from Jammu & Kashmir were proceeding for the holy pilgrimage this year—(KNO)
