Srinagar, Mar 22 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced a series of new infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the power supply and boosting the economic development of Ganderbal district. This follows the successful resolution of issues related to Right of Way (RoW), which had caused delays in the establishment of two receiving stations in the region. In a recent statement, the Power Development Department (PDD), according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) confirmed that the Wangath and Saloora receiving stations, originally sanctioned for the district, will now be completed and commissioned by June 2025. This development was welcomed by MLA Kangan, Mian Meher Ali, who had raised concerns about the delays and transformer capacity in the Assembly. “The construction work is progressing as per the revised timeline, and we are committed to improving power infrastructure in Ganderbal,” the PDD said in its response. The department also clarified that the Wangath station will feature a 3.15 MVA (3150 KVA) transformer, while the Saloora station will be equipped with a higher capacity 6.3 MVA (6300 KVA) transformer. The Minister In-charge of PDD, as per KNO, assured that these developments are part of the government’s broader initiative to modernize the power grid and meet the growing energy demands of the region. The projects are expected to significantly enhance the reliability of electricity supply in the district and contribute to its economic growth—(KNO)
