Bandipora, Mar 22 (KNO): The construction of a public park at Putushay in this North Kashmir district has been stalled due to opposition from certain individuals who earlier illegally occupied the identified land. According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Jammu & Kashmir Government had retrieved 19 kanals and 19 marlas of state land in Qazipora Putushay last year. A portion of the retrieved land was allocated for a vegetable market, while the remaining was identified for the public park. “Rs 42 lakh already stand sanctioned for developing the park but the work has not commenced yet. Certain groups, who previously had unauthorised control over the land, are now resisting the construction. This opposition has stalled the project, despite the fact that it is meant for public welfare,” locals told KNO. “We have been waiting for this project to start. The land rightfully belongs to the state, and it should be developed for the benefit of the community. Those opposing it are only doing so because they lost their illegal occupation over it," they added. Residents said that the administration should take strict action against those who are obstructing the work. They appealed to the district administration Bandipora and the local MLA to intervene and resolve the issue at the earliest—(KNO)
