Srinagar, Jun 05 (KNO): A delegation of Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar Thursday visited the historic Eidgah grounds to review arrangements for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha prayers. As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the delegation met with the Waqf Board administrator and officials overseeing the site. While it was noted that construction work on the new Mimber is still incomplete, and going on slowly, the concerned Waqf officials assured that the ground can be prepared and made ready to host the Eid congregation—provided that permission is granted by the authorities, reads the statement. Anjuman Auqaf has formally urged the government authorities to come clear on whether it will allow the Eid-ul-Adha prayers to be held at the Eidgah, in accordance with Islamic tradition of Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and the consistent practice of the Muslim Ummah to hold Eid prayers in open grounds (Eidgah) rather than enclosed spaces. “However, for many years now, authorities have repeatedly denied permission for holding Eid prayers at Eidgah Srinagar, casting deep hurt and disappointment among the faithful and violating the sanctity of this collective religious tradition,” the statement said—(KNO)
