Dr Mufti Mehmood receives ‘Inspiring Urologist of India’ 2024 Award | KNO

Srinagar: Former Head of Department at Government Medical College Srinagar and the Valley’s leading urologist Dr Mufti Mehmood was conferred with the prestigious award ‘INSPIRING UROLOGIST OF INDIA—2024’ by the Economic Times. The event was held in Delhi at Hotel Taj Palace where people from multiple fields were honoured for their achievements. An alumnus of Banaras Hindu University, Dr. Mufti completed his M.Ch from BHU Varanasi in 2004, he joined as a consultant urologist at Government Medical College Srinagar. Dr Mufti is credited with performing the first PCNL for renal stone disease at GMC Srinagar in May 2010 and continued to establish this minimally invasive procedure for renal stone disease at the government-run SMHS hospital. Known for his expertise in advanced laparoscopic and endourological procedures, his department was granted four seats by the National Board of Examination for fellowship in minimally invasive surgery. Spanning an impressive career of 35 years, he superannuated in June 2023 and joined as Associate Director of Urology & Renal Transplantation at the newly established state-of-the-art multidisciplinary Paras Health Hospital in Srinagar, where he continues to serve the people of Kashmir with his expertise and exceptional surgical skills—KNO
