Jammu, Dec 21 (KNO): The Indian Army has expanded its operational footprint in the Jammu region, including the strategic occupation of the upper reaches of the Pir Panjal range, according to Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the White Knight Corps, also known as 16 Corps. During a visit to Rajouri, Lt Gen Sachdeva participated in a 'Kaumi Ekta Meet,' an initiative aimed at recognizing the role of local people and veterans in maintaining peace and stability in the region. Speaking at the event, Gen Sachdeva, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said, "In recent times, the Indian Army has significantly enhanced its operational capabilities. We have strengthened our patrols and posts, even in the highest mountains and ridges. This progress has been made possible thanks to your unwavering support." The Corps Commander said new posts have been established in the upper reaches and that the movement of security forces at night has increased to bolster security and peace in the region. "Helicopters, UAVs, and various types of sensors are being utilized as part of technology-driven efforts to ensure peace," he added. Lt Gen Sachdeva highlighted the Army’s pivotal role in fostering military-civilian coordination to create a stable environment in the region. He reiterated the Army’s commitment to promoting peace, security, and development in Jammu and Kashmir. During his visit, the Corps Commander praised the synergy between the civilian population and security forces, particularly in the sensitive border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. He highlighted the Indian Army’s increased operational presence, including strategic deployments in the Pir Panjal range, and its close collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and civil administration. Acknowledging the contributions of veterans and local leaders, Lt Gen Sachdeva credited their efforts for the improved security scenario in the region. He commended the Ace of Spades Division for fostering trust through welfare programs and community engagement. "The coordination between the military and civilians has been instrumental in creating a stable environment," he said. Lt Gen Sachdeva also attended the Mendhar Cricket Premier League (MCPL) felicitation ceremony, where he lauded the enthusiasm of the youth for sports as a unifying force.
