Srinagar, Nov 01 (KNO): Culminating almost a week-long campaign for National Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week-2025, themed “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility”, the Anti-Corruption Bureau J&K, on Saturday, as part of an unswerving departmental and public outreached program, conducted vigilance awareness programs across the Union Territory of J&K, focusing on Jammu & Kashmir Power Development and sister concerned Transmission and Distribution Corporations. It was emphasized that the power development and distribution sector, being a highly revenue-intensive and public-facing utility, necessitated a profound and persistent emphasis on vigilance awareness to combat pervasive corruption. As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the programs were focused on building consciousness and resonating the obligation of everyone for preservation of honesty, transparency and good governance. It was further highlighted that Vigilance awareness is a holistic, proactive strategy that transcends mere punitive action against corruption, fundamentally seeking to cultivate an ingrained culture of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct throughout an organization and within the broader public domain. The events and programs have been effectively conducted covering venues at J&K Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Limited & Jammu & Kashmir State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. Jammu, DC Office Reasi, DC Office Ramban, DC Office Doda, DC Office Udhampur, Dak Bungalow Poonch in Jammu Division and IMPA Srinagar, Industrial Growth Center Pulwama, DC Office Ganderbal, DC Office Budgam, Conference Hall Govt. HSS Chandilora Tangmarg, Dak Bungalow Sumbal, Mini Secretariat Kulgam and Dak Bungalow Anantnag, in Kashmir Division. A documentary detailing the ACB's anti-corruption initiatives was showcased, across all venues, prominently featuring powerful endorsements from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha, and Shakti Kumar Pathak, IPS, Director ACB J&K. Their messages collectively validated the ongoing national commitment to promoting integrity and accountability within government institutions, critically reinforcing the theme of a shared responsibility necessary to eradicate corruption. Each district venues encompassed conduction of prescheduled program on Vigilance Awareness, which were effectively organized in collaboration with Power Development Department/Transmission and Distribution Corporations. The programs observed passionate participation of District Administration, including Senior Officers with other government officials/functionaries and general public. Especially focusing on issues related to Power Development, Distribution, Maintenance and Billing, the respective Senior ACB Branch Officers delivered their presentations accentuating the importance of shared obligation of officials and public in eliminating corruption and endorsing good governance across all public service delivery systems. The core objective was also to educate staff on conduct rules, internal procedures, high-risk areas susceptible to malpractice, and the effective utilization of digital tools (e-governance, e-procurement) to minimize human interface and discretion, thereby systematically blocking avenues for corruption before they occur. The main program and events at Jammu were organized at J&K SICOP &J&K SIDCO, Jammu and at IMPA, Srinagar. To gather immediate, real-time feedback, interactive sessions were conducted across all venues using a mobile app platform. This system captured public and employee responses to a survey on general service delivery issues, specifically focusing on Power Development, Distribution, Maintenance, and Billing. This crucial exercise helped critically identify challenges and systemic weaknesses. Furthermore, the ACB distributed digital and physical vigilance awareness material, including posters and pamphlets, to sensitize participants about vital anti-corruption reporting mechanisms like the Satark Nagrik App and the ACB Official Helpline/WhatsApp. The events at each district also included Integrity Pledge Ceremony, which was administered by Senior District Administration Officials and ACB Senior Officials, reverberating participants/departments obligation to sustain principled and moral standards in public service delivery. The ACB officials concluded the program by renewing their call to action, urging both attendees and the media to maintain their critical support for vigilance efforts and uphold the shared commitment to integrity in public service. Following this emphatic appeal, the successful event formally ended with the ACB extending a sincere vote of thanks to the dedicated employees and officers of the Kashmir Power Development and sister concerned Transmission and Distribution Corporations, as well as to the general public, whose participation ensured the program's success—(KNO)
