New Delhi, Aug 11 (KNO): A total of 523 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAM) have been approved in Jammu and Kashmir under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM), the Ministry of AYUSH informed the Lok Sabha on Monday. The information was shared in response to a question raised by Members of Parliament Jugal Kishore and Chandan Chauhan. According to the Ministry, the Union Territory’s proposals under its State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) led to the approval for upgrading existing AYUSH dispensaries into AAMs since the inception of the scheme. As per the data provided by the UT Government of Jammu and Kashmir, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a total of 92,86,448 beneficiaries have availed services at these AAMs so far. The Ministry further stated that third-party reviews, NABH assessments and central team visits have been carried out to evaluate the implementation and impact of the centres. These assessments were conducted to examine the delivery of preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative health services through AYUSH systems and to review integration with the broader public health infrastructure. Findings from the evaluation visits indicated an increase in footfall following the upgradation of AYUSH dispensaries into AAMs. In addition to outpatient services, these centres have also been offering Prakriti Parikshan, Yoga sessions at both facility and community levels, and awareness initiatives on medicinal plants. Based on field reviews, the Ministry recommended several steps to improve outcomes, including training and capacity building for AAM staff, enhancing referral linkages with other healthcare facilities and engaging frontline workers such as ASHAs for wider reach and coordination. The National AYUSH Mission aims to promote AYUSH systems of medicine through improved infrastructure and service delivery across the country—(KNO)
