Srinagar, Apr 28 (KNO): Continuing its drive against drug menace under Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Kupwara, Awantipora, Handwara & Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in Kupwara, during routine patrolling at village Shaloora, a police party from Police Station Kralpora intercepted a suspicious individual at Shaloora Crossing. He has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Mohi-ud-Din Bhat resident of Shumnag. During search, a contraband substance suspected to be charas was recovered from his possession.
In Awantipora, a police party of PS Tral apprehended one person identified as Gulzar Ahmad Mir son of Hamza Mir resident of Lariyar Tral. During search, contraband substances including cannabis sticks (30 grams), charas powder (190 grams), and grinded cannabis (1 kg 155 grams) were recovered from his possession.
In Handwara, Police apprehend an individual during a routine naka operation in the Langate area. During search, heroin-like contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Afroz Ahmad Shah son of Bashir Ahmad Shah resident of Check Langate.
In Anantnag, a police party from Police Station Mattan, while conducting naka checking on Kehribal Road near Hangul Restaurant, apprehended an individual identified as Mohd Abass Reshi son-in-law of Gh. Mohi-u-Din Deen, a resident of Kehribal. During search, approximately 250 grams of charas powder was recovered from his possession.
Regarding the incidents, cases under relevant section of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
