Forest area near army's battle school in Rajouri up in flames | KNO

Rajouri, May 29 (KNO): Forest area spread over several acres located near army's battle school in Chatyari Sarol area of Rajouri was up in flames in a major fire that broke out in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that at around 11 PM on Thursday evening, fire broke out in forest area of Sarol Chatyari village of Rajouri and spread rapidly in nearby locations. "Fire engulfed the forest area in around two kilometers with army personnel managed to prevent the flames from entering inside the establishment," the officials said. They added that a team of police from Chatyar police post headed by SI Sukhvir Singh also reached on the spot and launched fire-fighting operation with response teams of forest department also joined in later on and fire-fighting operation lasted till wee morning hours. "Police personnel bravely carried out the fire fighting operation preventing flames from spreading in more areas." the officials said. Meanwhile, Divisional Forest Officer Rajouri, Sanjay Gupta said that loss to the forest area had taken place in the incident—(KNO)
