COVID-19: Detainee among 18 fresh cases detected in Kupwara, toll 255 | KNO

Kupwara, May 29 (KNO): At least 18 persons were test positive in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday, thus taking the total toll of active cases to 255 in the district. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that an accused arrested by police in Kupwara was among the 18 fresh cases detected in Kupwara. They said that the fresh cases include returnees and contacts of earlier positive cases from Red Zones. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Anshul Garg informed that 18 more positives today including returnees, contacts of positives, from Red Zones and an accused in police lockup. He said contact tracing and sampling to be undertaken aggressively for all cases. In view of rising number of cases, restrictions to continue in town areas and Red zones, he said. He also informed that more COVID Care facilities are being established across the district in addition to Quarantine Capacity of 2200 beds already in place. Pertinently, 255 people have so far tested positive for novel coronavirus in the entire district of which 70 have recovered with no fatality as on date besides that over 3000 people who arrived back from outside Jammu and Kashmir were quarantined and shifted for sampling—(KNO)
