Srinagar, June 07 (KNO) : Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) Friday said that instead of releasing Kashmiri political prisoners on eve of Eid, New Delhi has booked them in fresh cases which clearly exhibit arrogance of Indian state against Kashmiri people. Strongly condemning the booking of its incarcerated chief Shabir Shah and others in fresh fake cases, JKDFP Spokesperson as per a statement issued to KNO said that such acts only strengthen the political stance of leaders like Shabir Shah. Shabir Shah, Masrat Alam and Syeda Aasia Andrabi were booked by National Investigation Agency (NIA) just a day before Eid-ul-Fitr, ignoring calls and demands from various quarters to release Kashmiri political prisoners on eve of the yearly festival, a spokesman said. Shah was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in July 2017 in Srinagar and he was soon shifted to Tihar Jail Delhi where he is lodged till date. Shabir Shah’s health has serious deteriorated since he was lodged in the jail and irony is that despite several court orders he has not been provided suitable medical treatment putting his life in danger, he added. JKDFP Spokesperson said that arresting its party chairman, Shabir Shah while he was already behind bars proves that New Delhi and its government institutions only want to punish Shabir Shah for fearlessly advocating right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and working for the resolution of the long pending Kashmir dispute.(KNO)
