Covid-19—Cases decline, Mortality up: 73 deaths, 3,344 positive cases | KNO

Srinagar reports 492 positive cases; Case tally at 247,952, death toll mounts to 3,222, active cases increase to 50,853, recovery rate at 78.19 percent

Srinagar, May 17 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Monday witnessed 73 deaths, highest since pandemic due to Covid-19 while 3,344 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 50,853. With 73 more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached to 3,222 and 3,344 fresh positive cases reported on Monday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 247,952. The big jump in the positive cases and the mortality continue to comes at a time when J&K is under tight grip of Carona Curfew since April 29. Of the exact number of 247,952 cases, 151,839 are from Kashmir division and 96,113 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 3,244 new cases, 1,926 belong to Kashmir division while as 1,481 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 151,839 including 119,974 recoveries and 1,729 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 96,113 including 73,904 recoveries and 1,493 deaths. The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 50,852 including 30,136 from Kashmir division and 20,716 from Jammu division. With 4,042 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 193,878 which is 78.19 percent of the total cases. “Cases tested positive in J&K include 492 from Srinagar, 117 from Baramulla, 373 from Budgam, 145 from Pulwama, 124 from Kupwara, 227 from Anantnag, 135 from Bandipora, 82 from Ganderbal, 164 from Kulgam and 57 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 1,352 from Jammu division include 567 from Jammu, 225 from Udhampur, 106 from Rajouri, 90 from Doda, 112 from Kathua, 86 from Samba, 25 from Kishtwar, 47 from Poonch, 43 from Ramban and 51 from Reasi," officials disclosed. Out of 73 deaths reported today, 15 died in GMC Jammu, 02 in CD Hosp Jmu, 01 in GMC Rajouri, 02 in CH Udhampur, 02 in GMC Kathua, 05 in GMC Rajouri, 02 in MH Akhnoor, 01 in DH Reasi, 01 in DH Samba, 01 in DH Udhampur, 02 in DH Poonch, 01 in SMVDNH Katra, 02 in MH Satwari, 01 in CHC Nowshera, 01 in CHC Pallanwala, 01 in CHC Ramnagar, 01 in CHC Surankote, 01 in SSH Jmu, 01 in Fortis Kangra, 11 in Home/ Brought Dead, 01 in SKIMS JVC Bemina, 01 in SKIMS Soura, 04 in SMHS Sgr, 01 in DH Shopian, 05 in GMC Anantnag, 01 in CD Hosp Srinagar, 03 in JLNM Sgr, 03 in CHC Kupwara. As per officials figures, 58,525 positive cases including 690 deaths and 49,969 recoveries are from Srinagar, 18,156 including 222 deaths and 14,854 recoveries are from Baramulla, 16,398 including 12,166 recoveries and 152 deaths are from Budgam, 10,887 including 8,185 recoveries and 138 deaths are from Pulwama, 9,496 including 123 deaths and 7,612 recoveries are from Kupwara, 11,775 including 7,497 recoveries and 138 deaths are from Anantnag, 7,090 cases including 6,027 and 76 deaths are from Bandipora, 7,050 including 5,883 recoveries and 62 deaths are from Ganderbal, 7,924 including 4,448 recoveries and 81 deaths are from Kulgam and 4,538 including 3,333 recoveries and 47 deaths are from Shopian. In Jammu division, 44,835 including 35,950 recoveries and 842 deaths are from Jammu district, 9,070 including 7,324 recoveries and 99 deaths are from Udhampur, 8,182 including 4,631 recoveries and 136 deaths are from Rajouri, 4,772 including 3,737 recoveries and 74 deaths are from Doda, 7,405 including 5,929 recoveries and 98 deaths are from Kathua, 5,736 including 3,526 recoveries and 85 deaths are from Samba, 3,563 including 3,128 recoveries and 26 deaths are from Kishtwar, 4,283 including 2,950 recoveries and 66 deaths are from Poonch, 3,729 including 2,918 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Ramban and 4,538 including 3,811 recoveries and 24 deaths are from Reasi. As per the daily information bulletin 1,974,299 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 75,986 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 50,852 persons are in isolation. According to the bulletin, 1,723,224 persons have completed surveillance period and 121,015 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 7,955,865 samples are available. Out of 7,955,865 the number of samples tested negative stands at 7,707,913 while as 247,952 have tested positive, among them 50,852 persons are active, 193,878 persons have recovered and 3,222 persons have died—(KNO)
