Pulwama police arrested 07 drug peddlers; More than 340 Kilograms of poppy straw, charas recovered | KNO

Pulwama police launched a drive against drug menace and arrested 07 drug peddlers during different raids at different places and recovered more than 340 kilograms of poppy straw and charas from their possession.

During the intervening night of  22/23-09-2017, a police party headed by DySP Hqrs. Pulwama Shri Farooq Ahmad accompanied with SHO Police Station Rajpora intercepted an Auto load carrier bearing registration number JK13C-5159 driven by Ishfaq Ahmad son of Abdul Majeed Rather resident of Frasipora. On search, 13 bags containing poppy straw weighing about 140 Kilograms was recovered from the Auto. The driver and another person namely Mohammad Lateef Kuchay, a notorious smuggler, were arrested on spot.

On preliminary investigation, the said notorious smuggler disclosed that he has kept more poppy straw in his house. On this information, a search was conducted in his house and 50 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered.

A case FIR number 64/17 under section 8/15, 18, 29 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Rajpora and investigation was taken up.

While continuing the drive, a police party including SHO Pulwama, SHO Rajpora, DO Lassipora headed by DySP Hqrs Pulwama conducted number of raids at Arihal, Batpora and Malapora villages, today. During these raids, huge quantity of poppy straw and charas powder was recovered.

44 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from house of notorious smuggler Abdul Rashid Mir son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir resident of New Colony Arihal. A case FIR number 307/17 under section 15/18 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Pulwama.

06 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from the house of Gulzar Ahmad Khan SIL of Mohammad Abullah Mir resident of Kralpora Arihal. A case FIR number 308/17 under section 15/18 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Pulwama.

13 kilograms of charas powder was recovered from cow shed of Nazir Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Salam resident of Hargam Arihal. A case FIR number 309/17 under section 15/18 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Pulwama.

100 kilograms of Poppy Straw was recovered from the house of notorious smuggler Bashir Ahmad Gato resident of Naina Batpora. A case FIR number 310/17 under section 15/18 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Pulwama.

30 kilograms of charas dust was recovered from the house of notorious smuggler Fayaz Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat resident of Malapora. A case FIR number 312/17 under section 15/18 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Pulwama. 

Besides, huge quantity of dry cannabis plants (Raw material of Charas) was destroyed/burnt at more than dozen places. SSP Pulwama has expressed thanks to general public of these areas for extending their whole hearted support and cooperation to the police.

Pulwama police has warned the smugglers to shun illegal trade of drug menace.
