21-year-old Muneeb Hassan Mir, son of Nisar Ahmad Mir of Wadatpora village of Budgam was found hanging inside his rented room at Bhajogi area of Manali by his colleagues yesterday, official sources told news agency Global News Service (GNS).
Mir, sources said, was immediately rushed to nearby hospital by his colleagues where the doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
Muneeb’s death has plunged his native village in mourning. His father Nissar Ahmad told GNS that the news of Muneeb’s death has shattered the family. He said his son had promised him to come home on Monday to attend Muharram.
“Just a few days back, I spoke to him. He sounded perfectly fine. I don’t believe he has committed suicide, as claims are being made,” Ahmad said.
Muneeb, he said had left for Manali, Shimla on April 20 this year for business activities.
"At this point of time I can't say anything", he said.
SHO Budgam Mohammad Rafiq Shah told GNS that the police have taken up the matter with their counterparts in Manali Shimla.
"Apparently, it seems a case of suicide,” Mir added.
Meanwhile, an official at the Manali police station told GNS that a case under section 174 CrPc has been registered and investigations set in to motion.
"The cause of death will be ascertained once post mortem report will come", the officer added. (GNS)
