SSB attack:

Two Banihal youth arrested along with weapons, third absconding

Banihal, Sep 22 : Police on Friday claimed that it arrested two youth involved in an attack on SSB party near Banihal tunnel. The attack that was carried out on Wednesday night had left a Head Constable dead while an Assistant Sub Inspector was wounded.

      A police official told news agency CNS that two youth were arrested in a Joint Operation. He identified the arrested youth as Gazanfar Iqbal Khan and Arif Wani. He added that third accused Aquib Waheed is still at large and hunt has been launched to trace him.

   Two youth allegedly involved in an attack on SSB party near Banihal tunnel were arrested by police and army in a joint night raid along with snatched weapons, an official said today.

    “Two service rifles, including an AK assault rifle and an Insas rifle, which were snatched during the attack, were also recovered from their possession,” he said. 

 

 

 

Tral shuts against civilian killings

Tral, Sep 22 : A complete shutdown was observed against the civilian killings in South Kashmir’s Tral town on Friday.

    No organization had forwarded the call for shutdown in the town.

   All the shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained shut while transport also remained off the roads.

    At least two persons were killed and over 35 injured in an attack on Works Ministers cavalcade in the town on Thursday. The slain included a Sikh girl Pinky Kour, a B.Ed student and elderly Master Ghulam Nabi Trag.

    Meanwhile, mourners thronged at the residences of victim families.

    Security personnel were deployed in strength to maintain law and order in the town.

  

 

Legal Metrology Department takes action against Dermatologist Clinic

Srinagar, Sep 22 : The department of Legal Metrology received a complaint from a consumer namely Bashir Ahmad Mir of Khomeini Chowk Budgam against a dermatologist clinic operating from Srinagar city for an unfair trade practice. The consumer has approached the clinic for treatment of hair-fall and transplantation .The doctor in the clinic recommended certain medical tests before going for minor surgery of hair-transplantation .The consumer spent Rs 6000 for the tests and produced the same before the doctor for the analysis. The doctor assured the consumer that hair-transplantation surgery shall prove 100% successful as all the parameters are satisfactory. The Consumer deposited Rs 40,000 in the clinic for the surgery but the surgery proved unsuccessful. The consumer approached the clinic again for the deficiency of the service but he received a poor response from management of the clinic and unsuccessful surgery and treatment was attributed to his slackness of taking the medicines regularly. The consumer got hurt by the response of the management of the clinic and was put into deep mental agony.

            After going through the complaint, the department observed that the medical prescription issued to the complainant does not carry the details of surgery and treatment as are required under Medical laws. The notice was issued to the clinic for their response against the said complaint. The clinic through their counsel raised certain legal objections which were cleared in the department`s second notice. The private hospitals/nursing homes/clinics fall under the purview of Jammu and Kashmir Consumer Protection Act, 1987 as these institutions are providing service against payment/consideration. The Govt. has empowered the officers of Legal Metrology department to lodge the consumer complaints in the consumer courts of the state. Both the parties attended the office of the Deputy Controller Legal Metrology (Consumer Protection) Kashmir to be heard in person. They mutually agreed to settle the dispute amicably in order to avoid any litigation. The management of the clinic offered the complainant a cheque amounting to Rs 22000 as compensation for his mental agony in presence of Mr. Amar Singh Jt Controller Legal Metrology Kashmir. The consumers are informed to preserve the medical prescriptions, clinical reports, receipts of surgery-charges/medicines etc as these stand evidences in relevant forums whenever there is a consumer dispute. 

             

 

Government Building housing 3 offices gutted in mysterious fire

Budgam, Sep 22 : A Government building housing three offices gutted in a mysterious fire in Beerwah division of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday.

     Local sources told CNS that fire started in the building at around 3 am, damaging official records of the three government offices including Social Welfare Department, Board of School Education and Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS).

    They said that fire was brought under control after four hours, resulting in massive damage to the offices.

    “We have registered a formal case vide FIR number 114/2017 under section 336 RPC and investigation has been started to know the cause of fire,” said a police official. 

 

 

NIA summons Geelani’s son again

Srinagar, Sep 22 : National Investigation Agency (NIA) has again summoned Syed Naseem Geelani to its headquarters in New Delhi for questioning, sources said.

    “He has been called again on 25th of September, 2017 to NIA headquarters, New Delhi,” a statement of the members of Faculty of Forestry, Sher-e-Kashmir university of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir said on Friday.

Naseem, the son of octogenarian pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Geelani was first summoned and questioned by NIA from 8th of August to 11th of August, 2017. His second round of questioning was done from 24th of August to 30th of August this year.

    NIA is investigating an alleged funding case registered on May 30 this year.

The investigation agency has so far arrested seven pro-freedom leaders, a businessman and two youth including a photojournalist regarding the investigation. 

 

 

Teachers Forum to hold blood donation camp on Sunday

Srinagar, Sep 22 : Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum will hold a blood donation camp at DIET Bemina on Sunday.

    Teachers Forum Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani told CNS that over 500 teachers will voluntarily donate their blood at the camp. “The donated blood will be supplied to required hospital for the use of needy.”

   Wani appealed journalist fraternity to cover the event to be held at 10 in the morning on Sunday morning. 

 

 

 

Class 6th student dies during lunch break in North Kashmir

Baramulla: Sep 22 ; A sixth class student died during lunch break at a private school in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

    Ubaid Altaf son of Altaf Ahmed Bhat resident of Badam Bagh Sopore a student of Muslim Education Trust in Tulbal, Sopore was playing with friends and running around during the lunch break when he suddenly collapsed.

    He was rushed to Sub District Hospital Sopore where doctors declared him brought dead.

   Meanwhile police have registered a case in this regard and investigation has been started.

Yasin Malik leads a procession in Soura

Srinagar, Sep 22 : Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik on Friday led a protest rally in Soura area of Srinagar to demand release of detainees languishing in various jails.

“Suppressing peoples’ voices by killings and incarcerating people can be only termed as worst dictatorship. Only oppressive authoritarian regimes keep people in jails and incarcerations centers. Persecution of Burmese Muslims and inaction of the international community on it is regrettable," Malik told the gathering.

JKLF chairman said that Islam teaches unity and oneness and if "we are able to safeguard our unity and remain steadfast in our struggle, no power on earth can ever defeat us."

Terming Kashmiris’ "languishing in jails and police stations as prisoners of conscience," Malik said that so-called biggest democracy and its allies in Jammu Kashmir have incarcerated thousands of young and old, men and women in the name of peace and law and order.

“Black Laws like PSA and investigating agencies like NIA are being used to jail and intimidate people. He said that from Tihar jail Delhi to jails in Jammu Kashmir, thousands are being terrorized and tortured that too in the name of democracy," he said.

Malik also condemned the ongoing massacre of Muslims in Rakhine state of Myanmar, saying that "humans are being killed, raped, looted and persecuted with impunity and state of Myanmar is engaged in ethnic cleansing of an entire nation."

“International community till now has stood as a mere spectator on this mass killing and exodus of humans and this persecution and inaction of the international community on it is regrettable and most condemnable," he added.

 

 

Geelani continues to be under detention from 7 years

Srinagar, Sep 22 : Syed Ali Geelani continues to be under house detention since last seven years and his continued house detention is taking heavy toll on his health, said Huriyat. Meanwhile police arrested Hurriyat spokesman Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar from his residence and lodged him in police station Batamalo, a press statement issued by Hurriyat Conference said.

Tehreek-e- Hurriyat General Secretary Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Mohammad Ashraf Laya were also put under house arrest, said Hurriyat. The state has been virtually turned into police garrison, said Huriyat and added that state authorities are creating emergency like situations and curbs and uncalled restrictions on peaceful political activities has deflated their rhetoric for “battle of ideas’’.

Hurriyat while condemning the state authorities for their dictatorial approach said that since year 2010, Syed Ali Geelani is confined to four walls of his residence as police authorities have practically turned his residence into a sub jail.

Hurriyat while denouncing state authorities for their despotic approach, said that they failed to justify illegal confinement of Syed Ali Geelani and added it is sheer bullying and illustrates the height of lawlessness in state.

Hurriyat Conference termed the continuous detention of Geelani as open demonstration of state terrorism and while ridiculing coalition regime led by Mehbooba Mufti for their rhetoric about: ‘’Battle of Ideas’’ and ‘’Goli Nahi Boli,’’ said that their all slogans and tall claims proved fraud and hoax.

Hurriyat Conference while strongly denouncing authorities for arresting its spokesman, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar and said that arrest spree and all these barbaric acts are aimed at to create scare and to break the resolve of leadership.

People will never disassociate from freedom movement and won’t succumb to pressure and corrosive tactics, said Hurriyat and added that we will pursue our goal despite all odds and psychological crackdown won’t deter us from pursuing our cherished mission.

Hurriyat Conference strongly condemned the slapping PSA on 18-year-old Riaz Ahmed Dar and shifting him to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu and added that vengeful actions against innocent youth is unethical and unconstitutional.

Hurriyat Conference strongly condemned forces attack on school vane in Letpora, saying that innocent students and teaching staff were returning to their home and said that forces through these cowardly acts are deliberately deteriorating the situations in state.

Aga Syed Hasan pitches for unity among Muslim Ummah

Budgam, Sep 22 : Anjuman Shari Shian president and senior pro-freedom leader Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi Alsafvi in his Muharam message has laid stress on the unity of Muslim Ummah across globe particularly in Kashmir Valley.

    During his Friday address at Imambara Budgam here in Central Kashmir, Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi Alsafvi paid rich tributes to the supreme sacrifices and services rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) for cause of Islam and urged for following the teachings and path of the Imam.

He also highlighted the faithfulness of companion of Imam Hussain (AS).

He said that in this modern age Muslim Ummah was facing problems across the globe.

    “Without unity among Muslims, problems could not resolved. Enemies of Islam were making untiring efforts to defame Islam, however, their designs would be frustrated and they could not succeed in their nefarious designs. It is the need of the hour to show unity,” he said.

    Aga Syed Hasan urged upon Muslim Ummah to freely participate in Muharam-ul-Haram processions. He said that Imam Hussain (AS) sacrificed his life while fighting the anti-Islam and anti-humanity forces.

He said that it was the responsibility of every Muslim to stand against every evil force in the society.

    He also highlighted the issue of Rohingian Muslims and said that it was the need of the hour to show unity to world and play role for peace and get genocide of Burma Muslims stopped. 

 

 

J&K Bank opens fresh currency counter at Vaishno Devi

Katra, Sep 22 : On the eve of Navratri, J&K Bank opened a Fresh Cash Currency/Note exchange counter at Vaishno Devi Bhawan in Katra Jammu. The bank’s Business Unit at Vaishno Devi established the facility of fresh currency Notes for devotees visiting the place from across the country.

Chief Executive Officer of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Jitendra Kumar Singh (IAS) inaugurated the counter in presence of SDM Bhawan Jagdish Singh (KAS), Tehsildar Dhuni Chand and the bank’s Vice-President Sudhir Gupta besides local traders, large number of devotees from different corners of the country and officials of SMVDSB and the bank.

Extending his gratitude towards the bank management Jitendra Kumar Singh lauded the relentless efforts of the bank at Vaishno Devi Bhawan and in the state for the economic empowerment of people besides supporting the trade and industry of the state thereby generating employment for growing number of local youth. He also thanked the officials from Reserve Bank of India on the occasion.

Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries on the occasion, bank’s vice president Sudhir Gupta presented mementos to the Chief Guest besides other Guests.

Speaking on the occasion, the vice president assured the audience that the bank shall continue to extend all such facilities to the visitors in future also in addition to the world class banking facilities.

JKSSB declares 41 selection lists in board meeting

Srinagar, Sep 22 : The J&K Services Selection Board today conducted its 130th Board meeting under the chairmanship of its chairman, Simrandeep Singh and declared 41 Selection Lists, the vacancies for which were notified vide Advertisement No. 07 of 2015; Advertisement No. 01 of 2015; Advertisement No. 04 of 2016; and Advertisement No.01 and 02 of 2016.

These results include for the posts of FMPHW in Health and Medical Education Department for Districts Ganderbal, Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag, Kupwara, Budgam and Kulgam of Kashmir and for districts Udhampur, Kathua, Doda, Reasi, Ramban, Rajouri, Poonch, Kishtwar and Jammu of Jammu division. Besides, the results for the posts of MMPHW of Pulwama district were also declared. The results for the posts of Food Safety Officer for Jammu and Kashmir divisions were also announced. It is pertinent to mention that Food Safety Officers are immediately needed to implement the provisions of Food Safety Act. Other results which were announced included those for the posts of Assistant Public Analyst of Kashmir Division (Health department), Copiest (Information department), Junior Grade Nurse (Health department) of Divisional Cadres Jammu and Kashmir; Junior Staff Nurse (Health Department) of districts Ramban, Kathua, Reasi and Kishtwar and Assistant Cameraman (Information department).

The meeting was attended by the Members of the Board including Mrs. Rukhsana Gani, Prof. Tasleem Peer, Mohammad Akbar Wani, Musheer Ahmad Mirza, Shafqat Iqbal, Anil Koul, Mohammad Saleem Malik and Nawab din. Secretary of Board, Tassaduq Hussain Mir, was also present.
