Development of Hill Districts occupies priority : Sartaj Madni | KNO

Hill Districts and constituencies have always been the main focus of Developmental agenda of Peoples Democratic Party. As and when the party got a direct role, possible Government resources were fully utilized for their empowerment.

While addressing a public meeting at Mendhar PDP Vice President Sartaj Madani referred to various landmark decisions taken by Mufti Mohmmad Syed  then and  by Mehbboba Mufti as Chief Minister now saying  “ PDP-led Governments  will continue to work for raising the stock of underdeveloped people of the state , particularly those suffering on account of  difficult geographical placement and poor social and economic conditions.

Madni said that it was Mufti Mohmmad Syed who catapulted Kargil and Leh Districts to the posion of Hill Development Councils and took various administrative and economic measures to change the fate of Hill areas of Jamu and Kashmir. He said the it goes to the credit of Mehboobaji that she in right earnest raised a separate Tribal Ministry with an appropriate fund-management and is equally devoted to get in focus Paharis and other linguistic sections to become the common beneficiaries of progress and development. 

Madni said opening of routes like  Poonch-Rawlakote and  Uri and concern for border belts for their peaceful existence bear evidence of how PDP explores all avenues for upliftment and protection of isolated and deprived areas.   He said Mughal Road is another leap forward in ameliorating the lot of poor and deserving , which goes a long way  in building infra-structure and facilitating movement.

Madni said PDP Government is keen in getting electricity , roads , water supply and health care facilities to Mendhar which has hitherto lagged behind in this. He said the area is well-covered by Rural Development schemes and Food and Supplies Ministry is playing  key role in getting the essential commodities to people at their door step.

Madni said that PDP-led Government has shown adequate concern for the woes of border belts arising out of uncertainty and border skirmishes and Indo-Pak friendship occupies important place in our agenda , particularly to give peace to people and space for  comfortable living. He said every effort will be made to ensure calm at the borders through persistent pleading for resolution of issues causing trouble in the state.

Madni said expressed concern for interruption in mutual trade and exchange with people across and added that Mehboobaji is feeling the pain of disconnect and resultant inconvenience to people of the truncated state. He said PDP’s role  and gains accrued from opening of routes cannot be allowed to be subverted. More routes will have to be opened to get the people desired relief , he added.
