Hanjura visits JK's cold storage facility at New Delhi | KNO

'Rs 16 cr to be spent on upgradation of storage plant'

Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi lone Hanjura today visited State owned cold storage facility plant in New Delhi and took stock of facilities being provided to growers.

 

The Agriculture minister was accompanied by Vice Chairman Agro Industries Development Corporation (AIDC) Rashid Mahmood and other senior officers of the department.

The Minister on the occasion said that State Government has decided to double the existing capacity of storage plants from existing 4000 MT so that more fruits and vegetables can be stored at the place.

He said that the DPR of the up gradation plan of the project has already been sent to NABARD for funding and the work of this project is expected to be started soon.

The Minister said that up-gradation of cold storage plant would help farmers to store their perishable food items in all seasons. The up-gradation plan also includes lodging and other facilities to growers of the state.

The state owned cold storage plant is located at Lawrence road New Delhi and was established in 1970’s by Jammu and Kashmir government.

The renovation and up gradation project is expected to be complete at an estimated cost of Rs 16 crore.

The Minister directed Agro Industries Development Corporation to purchase two refrigeration vans for the transportation of fruits and vegetables from Kashmir valley to Delhi. 

Vice Chairman AGRO Industry Development Corporation and other senior officers of the Department were present on the occasion.
