SMASHERS ARE CHAMPIONS OF RAFIABAD VOLLEYBALL PREMIER LEAGUE | KNO

The month long Rafiabad Premier Volleyball league organised by Rafiabad Civil

Society and Rafiabad Army under the aegis of Kilo Force concluded on Tuesday

evening at Watergam, Rafiabad. The tournament received an overwhelming response

of over 32 teams from Tehsils of Rafiabad and nearby regions of Baramulla, Sopore,

Handwara, Pattan, Gandarbal and Bandipora. The event witnessed fiercely contested

matches throughout the tournament. The zeal and sportsmanship displayed by all the

contesting teams was testimony of the rich sporting culture and high standards of skills

of youth of Kashmir.

2. In a colourful event, the final match was played between the teams from

Janbazpora (Baramulla) and Seer (Sopore) wherein both teams showcased their

immense talent by producing exceptional volleyball skills which kept the spectators

glued to their seats. The team from Seer, Sopore emerged victorious. The winner and

runners up teams were duly felicitated with a trophy and cash prize of Rs 10,000/- and

Rs 7000/- by Cdr 7 Sector RR.

3. The event was attended by Government officials, villages heads and large

number of youth and locals from Rafiabad region. Speaking on the occasion Cdr 7 Sect

RR complimented all the participants for their immense talent and appreciated the

contribution of members of Rafiabad civil society inorganizing the tournament. He

exhorted the youth to nurture their skills further by constructively engaging themselves

in sports/ games/ cultural activities. He asked the youth to shun the gun culture and

encouraged the youth to take to sports to channelise their energy to a positive cause.

Commander said that Rajwar Army will endeavour to continuously organise and

promote such competitions in different spheres of sports and culture to showcase the

exceptional talent of children and youth of the region.

4. Mr Anayatulla Malha, a notable member of Rafiabad civil society while speaking

on behalf of the denizens of Rafiabad expressed gratitude to the Army in conduct of the

event which would go a long way in promoting sporting culture in the area and help in

further cementing the existing bonhomie between the AWAM and JAWAN.
