Kashmir a humane issue concerning thousands of people, says Mirwaiz

Srinagar, Aug 18, CNS: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday said for the past 70 years people of Kashmir are born, raised with the fact that Kashmir is a disputed place waiting a final resolution and the fact has its foundation in the highest world body “The United Nations”.

While addressing a Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid Srinagar Mirwaiz said people of Jammu and Kashmir are waiting for the final resolution to put an end to the uncertainty, destruction and hatred among people of the subcontinent.

Mirwaiz who was released from his house detention after 57 day’s said that the resolution of the issue can always be reached provided there is willingness to accept the facts and compassion, humanity and mutual respect among the parties involved while addressing the problem and a keenness to work towards real peace by all. He said aggression and repression can never resolve anything but only aggravate it.

The Kashmir’s head priest said that each day young educated boys are being killed and there is a belief in some that once all of them are killed the problem will be over. “But they forget that these boys took to arms as a reaction to repression and for the resolution of the dispute and as long as there is repression and force as state response, killing one, ten more will stand up. So killing them will not kill the sentiment as is evident during funeral prayers.”

Mirwaiz said the agitation and protests by students in colleges and universities across the valley that force the state to frequently shut them down, again indicates as to how the youth of Kashmir see the situation and his reaction to it.

Mirwaiz said: “I once again appeal the people in India to see Kashmir not as a piece of real estate nor as a territorial dispute between two hostile neighbours but as a human issue concerning hundreds of thousands of people and divided families hanging fire since the last 70 years, leading to great suffering and loss of life on all sides that begs for a just resolution.” (CNS)

Pediatricians put life of newborn babies at risk in Sopore hospital

Baramulla, Aug 18, CNS: It is normal hospital procedure to screen every baby regardless of whether the parents ask for it or even if the baby appears healthy. Ironically the negligence of pediatricians at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district are putting life of dozens of newborn babies at risk every day.

The pediatricians according to parents of newly born babies posted at SDH Sopore hardly bother to perform a screening test. A screening test generally includes a variety of blood tests, a hearing test and heart defect screenings as well.

“The blood test is generally performed when a baby is 24 to 48 hours old. This timing is important because certain conditions may go undetected if the blood sample is drawn before 24 hours of age. If the blood is drawn after 48 hours of age, there could be a life-threatening,” said a senior pediatrician.

The father of a new born baby was forced to run from pillar to post after his infant developed some serious signs of Jaundice and Abdominal distension. “Neither doctors bother to go for the screen test of my baby nor they took care of him after he suffered from abdominal pain,” he said.

The distressed father said that on the instructions of Nursing Staff and other doctors, he was asked to approach a pediatrician Dr Suhail Naik but the said doctor was untraceable in the hospital for three consecutive days. “My baby was dying but not a single doctor was available in the hospital on August 15. Somehow we managed to find a pediatrician outside the hospital who prescribed the medicine. On Aug 17, again we visited SDH Sopore after the infant developed pain and this time as well no pediatrician was present in the hospital,” he said and added that the absence of doctors at the SDH forced them to rush their baby to District Hospital Baramulla.

“A lady Doctor Shafia at DH Baramulla after performing the check-up declared that baby has suffering from jaundice. We and our baby suffered because of the callous attitude of the pediatricians at SDH Sopore who did not conduct screen test of our baby,” the parents of the affected baby told CNS.

The parents alleged that most of the pediatricians at SDH Sopore remain busy at their private clinics. “They care a fig for the infants and remain absent from their duties,” they said.

When contacted, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Sopore, Dr Sami said he will take up the issue with Dr Suhail Naik.(CNS)

Another PSA slapped on Asiya Andrabi, her aide: Dukhtaran

Srinagar, Aug 18, CNS: The government has slapped a fresh Public Safety Act on Dukhtaran-e-Millat chairperson, Asiya Andrabi and her personal secretary Sofi Fehmeeda.

A spokesperson of DeM said that as the previous PSA expired on August 15, a fresh PSA was slapped against Andrabi and Sofi Fehmeeda on Thursday.

The duo was booked under PSA and lodged in Ambphalla jail on May 15 and now lodgement was further extended, she said.

Meanwhile, in a statement, the Secretary General of DeM, Nahoda Nasreen said that that the fresh PSA was slapped at a time when the party chairperson’s health condition is extremely critical. “The government is resorting to extremely oppressive measures against the ailing woman leader. Isn’t this a clear proof that the government is hell-bent to make this family suffer only because they are resisting against the occupation. There cannot be a worst example of political vengeance than this.” (CNS)

Let concerned about the ailing health of Qasim and Aasiya

Srinagar, Aug 18 ,CNS: Lashkar-e-Taiba, shared his concerns about the poor health of Syeda Asya Andarabi, President Dukhturan-e-Millat DeM, and her husband Dr. Muhammad Qasim Fakto in Jail and said that not being able to provide medicinal facilities is violation of basic human rights, which is a condemnable act.

LeT Chief Mahmood Shah in Statement to CNS Said asked for immediate release of Syeda Asya Andarabi, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Fakto, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Masarat Alam Bhatt, Mushtaq ul Islam and others. Their only crime is their demand for freedom.

If any kind of harm is imposed upon these Hurryat leaders, Delhi Sarkar will pay the price. World's humanitarian organizations must visit Jammu Kashmir and take notice of inhumane behavior of Indian forces in jails.

Indian security forces have been guilty of violence and killings of innocent people since the beginning. The shameful acts of India renders it as a terrorist state.

LeT Chief Mahmood Shah strongly condemned the stretch in time span or the arrest of Syeda Asia Andarabi and secretary Fehmeeda Sofi under fake PSA law. Such an inhumane acts can't suppress the freedom movement. These shameful acts suffice to expose the barbarism of Mehbooba's Indian regime, which is evident to claim that women are unsafe in this land against Indian barbarism.(CNS)
