Machail Yatra of Chandi Mata (Goddess) commences from Bhaderwah | KNO

Historical Machail Yatra today began from Chandi Mata temple Chinote Bhaderwah and left for Paddar Kishtwar amid religious rituals in which large number of devotees from various districts and state participated .Devotees chanting slogans praising the holy deity in the shape of a procession of holy Charri (mace) marched through the main market of Bhaderwah for onward journey to Kishtwar.The yatra after its first halt in Kishtwar today will leave towards Gulabgarh tomorrow. A cavalcade of 500 vehicles reached at Chinote Temple in Bhaderwah from where they left for Kishtwar and more devotees from Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua and other parts state joined in at Pul Doda.The district and police administration have made adequate security arrangement for the smooth flow of yatra. Locals and various trade organzatiosns irrespective to caste and religion have organized food stalls for the devotees here today in Bhaderwah Chief organizer of the Sarv Shakti Shri Chandi Mata Ji Temple Chinote Bhaderwah Thakur Kulbir Singh Jamwal appreciated the role of local administration for maintain the law and order and cooperation. It is notable to mention here that Paddar is popularly known for the Machail Yatra of Goddess Chandi- an incarnation of Goddess Durga.According to local legends Maa Chandi resides in the remotest area of Paddar at an altitude of around 9500ft above sea level. Maa appeared in the form of Pindi -the stone form and is believed to have come here from the Mindal Bhattas, a small village in Himachal Pradesh to bless the people of Paddar.Gulabgarh is last village on road connectivity to the area from where here devotees have to embark their foot journey. Every year thousands of devotees pay visit to the Holy Shrine with the faith undeterred and to receive the blessings of Mata Machail Waali.The yatra was initially started by Thakur Kulbir Singh of Bhaderwah who was serving in J&K Police department and was posted in Machail. The Yatra with Holy mace, starts from Chinote (Bhaderwah) during the month of August with a lot of zeal and fervor amidst the chants of Maa Chandi.A large number of devotees from Jammu also start their journey from the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir (Pacca Danga) and join the yatra at Bhaderwah from where it takes off to Kishtwar and then to Atholi in Paddar. The Holy mace is welcomed enroute by thousands of devotees at various villages who offered their obeisance to their deity and also organize free Langars at Gulabgarh, Massu, Kundhail, Chishoti, Hamori and Machail.
