Mehbooba's four Ministers to travel to Delhi tomorrow to firm up support for Article 35-A

Srinagar, Aug 16, CNS: The Jammu and Kashmir government is sending four top ministers to Delhi on Friday to explore further “legal support” for the state government in Supreme Court on Article 35A. They are also expected to explain to leaders at the Centre the “devastating implications” in case the constitutional provision is struck down and ensure the Union government backs the state’s stance in the apex court, an Indian Daily reported.

“We are going to Delhi on 18th (August) to see what can be done to put up a strong defence to our case,’’ state Law Minister Abdul Haq Khan said. “We will meet people and seek further legal opinion.”

He said the J&K government’s talks with the Centre have been “very fruitful”, and that PDP and BJP, coalition partners in the state, are talking at every level.

Besides the Law Minister, his senior Cabinet colleagues Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu, Horticulture Minister Syed Basharat Bukhari and Information, Food and Supplies Minister Choudhary Zulfikar will travel to Delhi.

Drabu was architect of the agenda of alliance. He is seen as close to the BJP brass and is valued in Delhi, especially after he brought J&K under the Goods and Services Tax regime without any major hassle, the report said.

Bukhari is a former Law minister, while Choudhary is an influential Gujjar leader from Rajouri, and his presence in the group of ministers is said to be important.

Sources said Sangh Parivar outfits campaigning for removal of Article 35A have been trying to rope in the support of Gujjar Muslim population, especially in Pirpanchal region of Jammu, by promising that the Centre will provide Gujjars 14 per cent political reservation if they break away from the position of the Muslim majority in the state, the reports added. The whole nation is proud of the family members of Ayub Lalhari who never hesitated to undergo any sacrifices for the freedom. The blood of our Martyrs won't go to vain. We won't sit idle until every last of Indian forces have quit Kashmir.

Mahmood Shah strongly condiment the move by US to declare Hizb-ul-Mujahideen as a global terrorist organization. US is guilty of killing thousands of innocent civilians around the world, its move to declare freedom Fighters as terrorist is an utter act of hypocrisy.

The United Nations has 18 resolutions registered to Kashmir which grant the people the right to fight for their freedom struggle, including arms struggle. Hurriyat said although nothing objectionable were seized or recovered from the residence of Altaf Ahmed Shah, Peer Saif ullah, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Meraj-u-Din and Shahid-ul-Islam, however all these arbitrary measures are hired just to malign resistance movement and to implicate them in fabricated cases.

It won’t dampen our resolve and aspirations and will pursue our mission till its logical end, said Hurriyat and added that people also know that such arm twisting tactics to scare the leadership and malign them by the New Delhi and their local stooges are attempts to take away the focus from the actual prevailing situtaions in state and distort the narrative of the Kashmir dispute.
