The Concerned Citizens Group led by former BJP minister Yashwant Sinha is on a two-day visit to the Kashmir valley which will begin tomorrow “for efforts of dialogue and peace” in the state.

Sinha said that the team comprising of Kapil Kak AVM (R), Bharat Bhushan, Editor Catch News and Sushobha Barve, head of Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation will start the visit tomorrow.

“We have arrived here again to continue our efforts for peace and dialogue. We will meet a lot of people in two days. The meeting will take place on 17 and 18 August,” Sinha told, without revealing the people who they are meeting.

Earlier, the Group had met Hurriyat leaders and mainstream political parties and civil society in the valley when they had first arrived in October last year amid agitation.

The Group will visit this month to update itself with the present situation in the valley.

“We are arriving in Kashmir early next month (August),” Wajahat Habibullah, one of the members of the Group had told.

“The aim of the visit is to update themselves with the suggestions and the situation and discuss the roadmap ahead. And bring it to the notice of the Centre, State governments and people of the country to hold dialogue for resolving Kashmir issue,” Habibullah said.

The Group had last year visited the valley amid fourth-month long uprising and civilian killings to assess the situation and insist on the BJP-led government in New Delhi to hold dialogue with Hurriyat and other stakeholders in the state for political resolution of the issue.
